How to: Import Word document into PowerPoint.
Solution:
Format the document as an outline in Word, then insert the Word outline in PowerPoint.
1) In Word, select the 'View' menu and select 'Outline'.
2) To format the first heading to a 'first-level indent' (with a '+' next to it), click 'Promote'(left arrow) on the 'Outlining' toolbar.

NOTE: This corresponds to Word's 'heading 1' formatting style.
3) Select the paragraph to use as body text for that slide.
4) To format that paragraph to 'indent level 2' (beneath the 'first-level indent' with a plus next to it), click 'Demote' toolbar button (right arrow) on the 'Outlining' toolbar.

NOTE: This corresponds to Word's 'heading 2' formatting style.
5) Repeat steps 2) through 4) for the entire document, for each paragraph that is to be a slide.
6) Save the document as an RTF file.
7) In PowerPoint, start a new presentation .
8) Create a default text style, using the 'Font...' command on the 'Format' menu.
NOTE: Initially, format the body text with a small font size, so the imported text will be more likely to fit on the slide.
9) Select the 'View' menu and select 'Slide Sorter'.
10) Select the 'Insert' menu and select 'Slides from Outline...'. (The Insert Outline dialog box appears.)
11) Select the RTF file saved in step 6).
12) Click 'Insert'. (The slides are created from the Word document.)
